Christmas Cantata

Please join us for the annual Christmas Cantata at 5:00 on Sunday, December 8.  The title of this year’s special music is Bethlehem Morning.  A light refreshment will be served afterward in the Fellowship Hall.  Also on December 15 during morning worship, the cantata choir will again be worshipping through the music of Bethlehem Morning.

Rev. Curtis Dale White

Rev. Curtis Dale White, age 73, of Taylorsville, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. He was born April 8, 1951, in Caldwell County, the son of the late June Ozro White and Dollie Mae Cline White.

He received a seminary degree from Fruitland College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Wesleyan College in SC. He has spent the last 25 years at Bath Christian Church and New Salem Presbyterian in Stony Point. He enjoyed woodworking, history, and sports of all kinds.

Those left to cherish and honor his memories include: his wife, Wanda Ormond White of the home; his daughter, Michelle Mays (Roger) of Taylorsville; his son, Jonathan White (Jenny) of Lenoir; his grandchildren, Leah White, Gracie White, Kalab Harrington, Roger Lee Mays III, Keldon Mays; his brothers, Stuart White (Sandra) of Sawmills, NC, Kenneth White of Taylorsville, Danny White (Joyce) of Petersburg, VA; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2024, at New Salem Presbyterian Church in Stony Point. Rev. Stuart White and Rev. Johnny Brown will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Operation Christmas Child 

Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week is November 18-25.  We have 30 preprinted boxes left from last year. There are 15 of these boxes in each vestibule. After this supply is exhausted, we will be using regular size shoeboxes you have at home or you can purchase plastic shoeboxes from the Dollar Store. Also, in the Vestibules are complete “How to Pack a Shoebox” handouts including acceptable gift suggestions and labels. Our boxes will be collected in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Education Building.  Joan & Pearson Chrismon will be delivering the boxes to Harvest Church in Washington.

Youth Director Position

We are searching for a part time Director of Christian Education of Youth. Hours and salary are to be determined depending on qualifications/experience.  In addition, a background check will be required (church will reimburse). A vital relationship with Jesus Christ, spiritual maturity, high moral and ethical conduct are essential requirements.  In addition, applicant must be friendly, enthusiastic, flexible, and adept at using a team approach while working with youth, parents, and church members. Candidate must be a strong people person who finds it easy to connect with and maintain relationships with all the families of the church.
